Rev. Edward P. Doyle, O.P. ’34, Dominican liberator

Providence College celebrated the life, service, and heroism of Rev. Edward P. Doyle, O.P. ’34 on April 18.

Father Doyle was a faithful Friar: a PC student who went on to become a PC professor, Army chaplain in World War II, Bronze Star recipient, and a liberator of the Nordhausen concentration camp who documented the atrocities he saw by taking photographs that became the centerpieces of an archive he donated to Providence College, with the help of his friend, Professor Emerita Jane Lunin Perel ’15Hon. Watch the video of the event (below), which featured a display of selections from that archive, Lunin Perel’s comments on Father Doyle’s enduring impact, and a video with reflections on his life and the significance of his archival materials.
